About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Praxeology is an open access, online peer reviewed journal in the intersection between health research, educational research, the social sciences and the humanities.
The title Praxeology and the subtitle a critical reflexive view refer to historical epistemology, which is the journal's epistemological foundation. Pierre Bourdieu and the research tradition developed in the Nordic countries based on his theories and methods in Scandinavia are particularly important, but the journal also publishes research articles that do not directly belong to this tradition, but that are theoretically and methodologically related to it.
Praxeology is an international journal, and accepts articles written in the Scandinavian languages, English or French. While the journal is primarily directed at critical and reflexive analyses of practice in health and/or education, the journal also accepts contributions from other research environments and traditions.
Our main target group is practitioners, educators and researchers within the fields of health and education. Praxeology’s critical view on practices within these fields and the structures that affect them may be of interest to a number of scholars and professionals. The target group thus includes, but is not limited to, sociologists, anthropologists, historians, cultural theorists, educationalists, teachers, and health professionals, such as nurses, physiotherapists and medical doctors.
Peer Review Process
Articles should be based on an original empirical analysis and/or on a theoretical or philosophical analysis to be accepted. All articles will be reviewed by two anonymous peers.
Articles may be submitted electronically after registration in the journal’s system. The main document must not contain the author’s name or other hallmarks that may identify the author.
The article may be rejected if the manuscript does not fulfil the criteria in the Author Guidelines, or if its content is irrelevant to the scope of the journal. The editor may also return manuscripts requiring changes before initiating the peer review process.
Feedback regarding the article will be administered in the journal system. The corresponding author will also receive notifications by email. The author may log into the system to check where in the process the text is.
After the review process, the text will either be accepted as it is, accepted with minor revisions, accepted with major revisions or rejected. If the editor asks for a revision, the author will get a deadline for this.
