Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • A download link to the film has been provided in the “Comments for the Editor” box below. (The film cannot be uploaded in the next step “Upload submission”)
  • Any third-party-owned materials used have been identified with appropriate credit lines, and permission obtained from the copyright holder.
  • A biographical note (in the "bio statement" section of the profile form)

Author Guidelines

Submissions should be made electronically through this website, providing information about the film and the research it is based on. Please include a short biographical note in the 'bio statement' section of the profile form.

The submission must include a download link to the film. You may use a trusted file share service or a video-sharing website, such as vimeo, dropbox and uninett. Please make sure the film is downloadable. When the submission form is completed, JAF will confirm the submission by email.

It is not possible to upload the film through the online submission system.

The submission will first be reviewed by the journal editors, and if appropriate, sent out for peer review. The filmmaker will receive an email from the editorial staff after the film has been peer reviewed, with an invitation to respond to the review. After receiving the response from the filmmaker, the editors will inform the filmmaker of their decision (accepted, accepted with revisions, or if the submission is declined).  If the editors ask for revisions, the filmmaker will get a deadline to finish the revised version.
